چکیده

Cardiac diseases are associated independently with decrease in kidney function and progression of existing kidney diseases. Conversely, chronic kidney disease (CKD) represents an independent risk factor for cardiovascular events and outcomes. Renal dysfunction frequently accompanies cardiac failure and that cardiac dysfunction frequently accompanies renal failure. This interdependent relationship has come to be known as the “cardiorenal syndrome”. Direct and indirect effects of each organ that is dysfunctional can initiate and perpetuate the combined disorder of the two organs through a complex combination of neurohormonal feedback mechanisms. In this review pathophysiology and management of fi ve different subtypes of cardiorenal syndrome is discussed. Cardiorenal Syndrome: The Clinical Cardiologists' Perspective.

The term cardiorenal syndrome has evolved over the years. The understanding of the interactions between these two organ systems has led to better recognition and treatment strategies. As cardiovascular mortality is high in individuals with renal dysfunction, it is imperative to understand the pathophysiology behind the disease process. This knowledge may better serve these patients with this sy...

Nitric oxide mediated the effects of nebivolol in cardiorenal syndrome

Objective(s): Despite several proposed mechanisms for the pathophysiology of cardiorenal syndrome (CRS), the exact mechanism remains unclear. Nitrosative stress has been argued as a key mechanism recently. Nebivolol is a beta-blocker with nitric oxide (NO)-releasing effect. In the present study, NO-mediated effects of two different treatment regimes of nebivolol in CRS...

Cardiorenal syndrome: understanding the connections between cardiac and renal disease.

Renal and cardiac diseases are nearly ubiquitous in hospitalized patients and common causes of morbidity in outpatients. Although the connection between the heart and kidneys is relatively well known in the medical community, a more formal classification for the clinical interplay of the two systems has been developed only recently. Cardiorenal syndrome was described by Italian nephrologist Cla...

Cardiorenal syndrome: a cardiologist's perspective of pathophysiology.

The cardiorenal syndrome has recently been defined as "disorders of the heart and kidney whereby acute or chronic dysfunction in one organ may induce acute or chronic dysfunction of the other." The syndrome is extremely common and independently associated with poor clinical outcomes. However, no pharmacological therapy has been shown to improve its outcomes. Unfortunately, the mechanisms that i...
